Founded in 1971, UAAM represents ten Belgian mutual and cooperative insurers, encompassing a diverse membership from general insurers to niche providers. Despite their varied focus areas, UAAM members share a common purpose: to promote the mutual and cooperative model as one that combines economic success with social responsibility.
This rebranding initiative comes at a time of growing recognition of the mutual sector. In Belgium, mutual and cooperative insurers increased their market share from 13.8% in 2020 to 16.8% in 2023, with premium volume rising from €4.7 billion to €5.4 billion over the same period.
The new website – www.vvov-uaam.be – highlights the UAAM’s mission and supports greater engagement with members, partners, and the wider insurance community.
UAAM is an active participant in the international mutual sector, holding membership in both AMICE and ICMIF.
